    • WorkBC will review your situation (job search, skills, barriers, etc.)

    • You may be referred to an employment counsellor, workshops, or supports—some of which include “job‑search counselling” or employment readiness counselling.

  • Explain your need clearly: Ask for the 10 free counselling sessions that WorkBC provides.

You will need to participate in WorkBC programs to receive the counselling benefit.

  • Register for the service/support plan

    • Once you’re eligible and the right program is identified, you’ll work with a case manager or counsellor to set up an action plan.

    • You may receive supports including: job‑search help, skills/training, possibly financial supports for job‑start, personal employment coaching.

  • Follow through with the service and use the supports - there are lots of helpful things!

    • Attend sessions, complete any assignments or activities (resume writing, interview practice, workshops)

    • Use the resource room or online tools, stay in contact with your counsellor

    • If you’re starting a job, you may also get help (transportation, tools, clothing) from WorkBC.
